The Residential Design Answer Man
I
am pleased to introduce my service as "the Residential
Design Answer Man" . For over thirty years I have
been building and designing new homes, remodels and
additions for people. My experience is as a designer of
projects for myself and clients , a hands on builder, and CAD
drafter.
In order to be proficient with these tasks I have become, over time, expert in design ( space, lighting , color ) , every practice and material from foundations, to fine finish and cabinetry, and all elements of energy efficient and sustainable residential construction i.e. Green Building.
Also to maneuver thur the mire of planning and building codes to obtain permits and correct existing violations.
This thirty plus years gives me a good grip on what can be done at a specific location and how to organize a project . Keeping in mind , design ( what's it look like , how does it feel to be in this kitchen , can I actually cook in it , how's it to have a party on the deck? , on and on , ) . How does the structure relate to the site ? ( this is a big one not often well considered ) . What materials and practices do we employ to maximize the design and control the costs? How "Green' is the project and what will that do to the site , the design and cost outlay?
I have built every element I have ever designed and drawn right down to radiant flooring and furniture.
I currently use Chief Architect and ArchiCAd software to draw and model my projects. These tools allow up to date BIM ( building information modeling ) to be very very accurate and accessible to my clients.
We provide full service design and drafting , construction documents, coordinating engineering services, cost analysis , application and expedited permits, construction management and construction document plan check review.
